The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) welcomed more than 100 airport GIS managers, FAA personnel, consultants and vendors to the 15th Annual AAAE GIS Conference and Exhibition in Arlington, VA March 25-28.
Following Sunday’s golf outing, Introduction to Airport GIS course and welcome reception, the conference began with a celebration and reflection of airport GIS to mark the conference’s 15th anniversary, as the gathering remains the only one in the world dedicated to airport GIS.
Other conference topics included: terminal mapping, integrating GIS into daily airport operations, using GIS to market an airport, obstruction analysis using new Advisory Circulars, integrating GIS in emergency management, using GIS to manage carbon footprints, developing airport vehicle runway incursion warning systems and an update on the FAA’s AirportsGIS.
