The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), is pleased to present the 11th Annual AAAE/TSA/DHS Aviation Security Summit, December 12-13, 2011, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia.
The 11th Annual AAAE/TSA/DHS Aviation Security Summit continues the tradition of AAAE and federal aviation security policymakers coming together at a joint summit to review the complex issues surrounding aviation security today. Ten years after the tragic events of September 11, 2001 changed aviation security forever, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are evolving the federal government approach to aviation security to a risk based paradigm. This paradigm shift cannot be accomplished without the input, collaboration and partnership of airport operators, airlines and aviation industry leaders.
As one of the top attended security events in Washington, D.C., this important annual summit facilitates this collaboration by bringing together congressional staff and senior leadership from DHS and TSA with airport operators and other key players in security policy and operations for an intensive day and a half conference. The interactive format of the summit enables the open exchange of ideas and information on the most important security issues facing the aviation industry. In particular, the summit sessions will focus on issues such as risk-based security, passenger, checked baggage and cargo screening operations, airport access control and perimeter security, technology deployment and funding issues, recent legislative initiatives, general aviation security, domestic and international programs to facilitate passenger travel and global harmonization efforts. This conference provides the perfect opportunity to join in a dialogue with policymakers from TSA, DHS and Congress, learn about the latest developments regarding security policy and technology, and network with key aviation security decision-makers.
Senior TSA and DHS officials, as well as representatives from other federal agencies and Congress, will speak at the summit. Airport and airline representatives and recognized aviation industry leaders are also invited to participate on the program.
All sessions will take place at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. The summit will begin with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011 and will end at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. The registration fee includes two continental breakfasts, coffee and refreshment breaks, lunch and the welcome reception. Dress is business attire.
Airports-Only Meeting on December 13, 2011
At the conclusion of the conference, all airport attendees of the summit are invited to participate in an Airports-Only Meeting of AAAE's Transportation Security Services Committee. The Airports-Only Meeting will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on December 13, 2011, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. A boxed lunch will be provided for airport attendees.
