The American Association of Airport Executives and the City of Chicago Department of Aviation invite you to the Fourth Annual Airports Going Green Conference, October 31 - November 2, 2011, at The Westin Chicago River North in Chicago, Illinois.
Airports Going Green "Leading by Example" brings together aviation sustainability leaders and innovators, providing national and international airport and airline perspectives on sustainability. This conference covers all aspects sustainability - from environmental design, construction, operation, maintenance, concessions and tenants, and social responsibility - unique to an airport environment. The conference will feature sustainability unique to concessions and tenants, consider the prospects for 'net zero' waste management, and enable us to learn from our international and airline partners. We'll highlight aviation's role in the community and the many industry socially responsible initiatives, from bees to donating goods, job training and education programs. We'll cover the wide-range and growing number of LEED facilities at airports and highlight their achievements, and explore green vehicle incentive programs in place at leading airports We'll also examine the industry's sustainability policy and metrics, and explore the future of sustainability in the industry.
The conference will feature industry leaders and case studies to present each topic and include discussions on costs, funding opportunities, lessons-learned, and more.
This years conference will include a workshop on the City of Chicago's Sustainable Airport Manual (SAM) Version 2.1 and latest updates. The SAM remains at the forefront of the aviation industry after setting the standard for "green" airport design and construction in the US. The workshop will share the evaluation criteria, the ratings and rankings process, and supporting implementation tools. The session will focus on SAM's chapters incorporating sustainability into planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance, and for concessions and tenants.
