General Information

The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), the International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE) and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), in collaboration with the European Commission (EC) and EUROCONTROL, are pleased to present the Second Transatlantic Aviation Issues Conference to be held at the Conrad Brussels Hotel in Brussels, Belgium, June 29-July 1, 2010.

Back by popular demand, the Second Transatlantic Aviation Issues Conference will bring together leaders from governmental agencies, airports and airlines, manufacturers and general aviation, as well as the political leadership of Europe and the United States, to discuss current challenges and look ahead to future ones. The theme of the conference is "U.S.-EU Cooperation at a Crossroads." The historic cooperation that has made the transatlantic aviation relationship the cornerstone of global aviation progress in technology, safety, security and the environment is threatening to come apart. Is trust broken? Can the United States and the European Union find common ground on environmental issues at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) when they couldn't do so at Copenhagen? Will foreign investment issues spell the end of the Open Skies Agreement? What effect will legislative, regulatory and political developments have on bilateral aviation safety cooperation in the future? Can the two sides find a way to work together toward seamless integration of their respective air traffic control networks as both sides move toward a satellite-based system?

All sessions will take place at the Conrad Brussels Hotel. The conference will begin on the evening of Tuesday, June 29, with registration and an opening reception at 18:30 and conclude on Thursday, July 1, at 12:30. The registration fee includes all handouts, the opening reception, one luncheon, the evening event and all refreshment breaks. Dress is business attire. Confirmation letters will be e-mailed to all attendees.
