General Information

The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), is pleased to present the Ninth Annual AAAE/TSA/DHS Aviation Security Summit, December 10-11, 2009, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The Ninth Annual AAAE/TSA/DHS Aviation Security Summit continues the tradition of AAAE and federal aviation security regulators coming together at a joint summit to review the complex issues surrounding aviation security today and to look ahead at how we can work together to meet the security challenges and opportunities of tomorrow. The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 dramatically changed the landscape of aviation security and aviation remains a primary target for terrorist organizations. Under the new Administration, DHS and TSA have renewed their commitment to work in partnership with airport operators, airlines and aviation industry leaders to address evolving threats and increase the security and efficiency of the world’s aviation system.

This important annual event furthers this collaboration by bringing together senior leadership from DHS and the TSA with airport operators and other key players in security policy and operations for an intensive one-day conference focusing on the most important security issues facing the aviation industry, including security and screening operations, technology deployment and funding issues, recent legislative initiatives, and domestic and international programs to facilitate passenger travel. This conference provides the perfect opportunity to join in a dialogue with policymakers from TSA, DHS and Congress, learn about the latest developments regarding security policy and technology, and network with key aviation security decision-makers. In fact, an opening reception has been added on Thursday, December 10, this year to provide added time for all attendees to network with colleagues and policy leaders as well as visit state-of-the-art security technology exhibitors.

Senior TSA and DHS executives as well as representatives from other federal agencies and Congress will speak at the Summit. Airport and airline representatives and recognized aviation industry leaders are also invited to participate on the program.

All sessions will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. The summit will begin with an opening reception at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009 (registration opens at 5 p.m.) and will end at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2009. The registration fee includes all handouts, the opening reception, a continental breakfast, coffee breaks and a lunch. Dress is business casual attire.
