AAAE Airports Energy Efficiency Forum

General Information

Is your airport prepared for the energy and environmental challenges that never seem to go away? Is your airport employing the latest strategies and best practices to minimize/eliminate energy waste and optimize operations? Is “going green” just a buzzword or can it also save you money and resources? If you do not know the answers to these questions, then someone at your airport must attend AAAE’s Airports Energy Efficiency Forum to help shine a spotlight on these often-ignored issues – soaring utility bills, comfort problems and shrinking capital budgets for retrofits.

Helping airports figure out how to employ the latest strategies and best practices to minimize/eliminate energy waste and optimize operations is the number one goal for this conference. “Going green” isn’t just a buzzword; it can also save you money and resources.

This forum will address a few basic ways that airports can save up to 30% with minimum investments:

• Increase efficiency through the use of low cost technology and equipment
• Improve facility design and efficiency
• Improve energy-related operations and maintenance
• Recommission facilities and controls for optimum comfort and energy use

Airport representatives, Texas A&M University’s Energy Systems Laboratory, energy consultants and others will be on hand to discuss solutions that you can implement right away. The forum also will present case studies and best practices from various airports and other major institutional organizations.

All sessions will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Seattle. The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, with registration and a welcome reception and will end at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, February 19. Registration fees include the reception, two continental breakfasts, one luncheon, all refreshment breaks and forum materials. Dress is business casual (no ties). Confirmation letters will be e-mailed to attendees.

Don't miss this opportunity to interact with airport representatives, government figures and environmental experts while enjoying one of the most wonderful "green cities" in the country.

Get your name recognized by the fast-growing "green" community! There are exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities available for the Forum!

The Emerald City

Seattle is America's greenest and most sustainable major city, according to results in a survey of 655 cities overseen by the Natural Resources Defense Council. The Emerald City was followed by two other West Coast population centers, San Francisco (aka "Babylon by the Bay") and Portland ("the Rose City").

Categories for evaluation by the NRDC, a mainstream national environmental group, included air quality, green building, green space, energy production and conservation, recycling, transportation and water quality. Seattle was number one in green building, air quality, and energy production and conservation.
