More than 150 airport Geographic Information Systems (GIS) managers, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) personnel, consultants and vendors from across the United States, Canada and Europe attended the 12th Annual AAAE GIS Conference and Exhibition March 15-18 in Chicago, making it the largest-ever airport GIS conference.
The FAA played a key role in this year’s program, providing a half-day FAA Airports GIS Primer: Preparing for a New Era of Airport GIS. This series of sessions helped those involved in airport GIS to understand Advisory Circulars that will contain standards airports must follow for using GIS in certain areas.
Other sessions included a roundtable discussion on the Economy and GIS—Where do We Go From Here?; GIS as a Security Risk Management Tool; Automating Airfield Inspections; as well as presentations on GIS at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Toronto, Munich, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia International airports.
AAAE would like to thank the conference sponsors: AECOM Transportation, Eagle Integrated Solutions, Jacobs, Planning Technology, Inc., Psomas and Woolpert. AAAE would also like to thank the exhibitors: AECOM Transportation, Eagle Integrated Solutions, ESRI, Landiscor, Photo Science, Inc., Pictometry International, W.K. Dickson & Co. Inc., and Woolpert.
