General Information

The American Association of Airport Executives, in cooperation with The MITRE Corporation, Booz Allen Hamilton, Robert E. David & Associates, and Farragut International is pleased to present the AAAE Runway Safety Summit. This year's event is hosted by Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and sponsored by, Era Corporation, Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, and Sensis Corporation.  Runway Safety Angel sponsor is Eagle Integrated Solutions, Inc. The conference will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, November 12-14, 2008.

Safety in the aviation system is one of FAA’s primary missions. Through regulation and advanced research, the U.S. aviation system continues to lead the world with an unprecedented level of safety. Yet, as the aviation system prepares for increased growth in commercial, cargo and general aviation, additional advancements in policy and technology will be needed to enhance the safety of the aviation system. The Summit will examine FAA policies, procedures and technology advancements intended to enhance aviation safety. The conference will bring together federal policymakers, airport operators and managers, airline safety professionals and consultants to engage in lively discussions and presentations about advancements in runway and airport safety, including improving runway safety areas, runway excursion mitigation, and technology developments.

Highlights of the conference agenda include:

All Summit sessions will take place at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Hotel. The conference will begin on Wednesday, November 12, with a welcome reception at 6 pm (registration and exhibit hall open at 5 pm). Sessions will begin at 8:00 am on Thursday, November 13, (registration and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 am) and will adjourn at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 14.  The conference will conclude with Florida Everglades Airboat Tour and Networking Reception at Sawgrass Recreation Park 2:30 pm - 6:30 pm on November 14. Dress will be business casual for all functions with the exception of the Florida Everglades Airboat Tour and Networking Reception at Sawgrass Recreation Park which is casual.

The registration fee includes all handouts, two continental breakfasts, lunch, welcome reception, airboat tour and networking reception, breaks, and the airport tour.
