General Information

The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and the International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE) are pleased to present the 14th Annual North America/Central Europe/Central and South Asia Airport Issues Conference, to be held October 28-30, 2008, at the Athenaeum Athens InterContinental Hotel in Athens, Greece. This meeting is co-sponsored by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, the U.S. Department of Commerce-Commercial Service and the U.S. Department of State.

This program is designed to promote the exporting of aviation/airport-related North American products and services by providing direct contacts and meaningful dialogue between aviation-related companies and key airport/aviation officials in the region. Equally important, the workshop will offer important and valuable networking opportunities for airport and aviation officials from North America, Central Europe and Central and South Asia to discuss and debate management and operational challenges facing the airport management profession. As in past years, key aviation officials from throughout the region will participate in the conference, including representatives from Austria, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic and the Ukraine. In addition, U.S. Commercial Service officers from U.S. embassies throughout the region will also be in attendance.

We are also pleased to announce that the U.S. Trade and Development Agency will bring to this year’s conference public sector ministry and civil aviation authority, airline, major airport and air navigation services officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and potentially other neighboring states to discuss various policy issues and opportunities to liberalize passenger and cargo aviation. Financiers and U.S. and regional private sector officials, including North American companies that are current suppliers or users of the aviation infrastructure, will also participate.

All sessions will take place at the Athenaeum Athens InterContinental Hotel. The conference will begin with an opening reception at 18:30 on Tuesday, October 28 (registration will open at 18:00), and conclude on Thursday, October 30, at 17:00.
