General Information

The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), in conjunction with the Transportation Security Clearinghouse (TSC), is pleased to present the Employee Credentialing and Access Control Symposium on August 20-22, 2008 in San Francisco, California. The symposium includes a one-day workshop, hosted by the Transportation Security Clearinghouse, designed to review the current aviation-related vetting and credentialing programs and a day-and-a-half conference focused on the next generation of aviation credentialing and access control.

In addition to highlighting the current status of aviation employee credentialing, the Symposium will examine, through expert panel discussions, the issue challenges and opportunities associated with the proposed initiatives related to employee credentialing and access control, especially efforts to incorporate biometrics into airport badging and access control systems. In response to increased focus by the Department of Homeland of Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on biometric systems at the nation’s airports, a number of initiatives have been proposed to accomplish the goal of biometric-based credentials and access control systems, including the industry-led Biometric Airport Security Identification Consortium (BASIC) and the TSA’s Aviation Credential Interoperability Solution (ACIS) as well as Federal legislation to study standards-based, interoperable biometric systems for aviation employees. This unique Symposium aims to make sense of what is being proposed and to drive industry and Government consensus on a solution that works for the aviation industry.

This symposium is ideal for representatives from airports, airlines and security technology companies. Representatives from DHS, TSA, Congress, and the Government Accountability Office are expected to participate in the program. An exhibit area highlighting the latest in biometric, smart card and access control technologies will also provide an opportunity for attendees to learn more about employee credentialing and access control systems.

All sessions will be held at the Hotel Nikko. The TSC workshop on Wednesday, August 20 will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the workshop registration fee includes breakfast, lunch and all handout materials. The symposium will begin on Wednesday, August 20 with a welcome reception and registration at 6 p.m. and will end at approximately 12 p.m. on Friday, August 22. Registration fees include all handouts, breaks, two continental breakfasts, one lunch and the welcome reception. Dress for the workshop and conference is business  casual. Confirmation of your registration will be e-mailed.
