The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) is pleased to present the second Airport/Seaport Cruise Ship Conference, to be held November 9-11, 2008, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, hosted by the Broward County Aviation Authority.
Industry trends suggest that working to ease passenger flow from ship to airport to aircraft is an increasingly important job for port cities. Key representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), airlines, cruise lines, airports and port officials will be invited to this workshop to debate and discuss challenges, alternatives and creative techniques for various issues affecting intermodal operations.
In order to better serve port city passengers who arrive or depart either by sea, land or air, creative partnerships are necessary not only to reduce delays for transferring passengers, but also to minimize operational delays for airline or cruise ship operators in general. The efficient management of passenger and baggage transfer programs in a compliant manner is just one of the major issues that will be covered in this conference. Also addressed will be Federal Inspection Services issues that arise from port of entry operations and how these factor into a plan for managing passenger convenience.
The conference will provide an opportunity to share experiences at airport/seaport facilities of different sizes and complexity with a goal of learning optimal ways to improve overall customer service through more efficient passenger and baggage transfer processes. In addition, presenters will evaluate funding methods, share alternative facility designs and present specific models of current successful operations.
Registration and the welcome reception will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 9; sessions will end at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11.
